On Aug. 4, Deputies responded to the Lexington Park Library for a report of a fight.
Investigation revealed there was not a fight but an assault and attempted robbery. Deputies learned the victim was walking to his car, which was parked in the library parking lot, when a black male came up to him from behind, grabbed the victim in a choke hold around the neck and demanded the car keys to the victimโs 1994 Dodge pick up truck.
The suspect then reached into the victimโs pockets and began searching for the keys while continuing to demand the keys from the victim. As a result of the suspect yelling, by standers attention was drawn to the situation. The by standers began yelling at the suspect to let the victim go.
The suspect fled in the direction of Missouri Avenue in Lexington Park. A description of the suspect was broadcast and a short time later Sr. Dfc. J. Molitor located a subject matching the description of the suspect in the area of Rogerโs Drive which is in close proximity to Missouri Ave and the location of the attempted robbery. The subject was detained.
The victim was transported to the suspectโs location. The victim positively identified the suspect as the person who assaulted and attempted to rob him. The suspect was identified as Joseph Lee Woolfolk, 18 of Lexington Park. Woolfolk was arrested and charged with attempted car jacking, assault and attempted robbery.
Dfc. J. Kirkner was the arresting Deputy.
