LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — A routine patrol in Lexington Park escalated into a brief foot chase and arrest after deputies encountered a man with an outstanding warrant. On March 19, 2026, deputies with the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office (SMCSO) were patrolling the Great Mills Road area when they observed Victor John Lee Scotland, 37, of Lexington Park, on foot. Police documents state deputies confirmed the warrant and verified Scotland’s identity through a Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) photograph. Law enforcement then made contact with Scotland outside a Family Dollar location.
