LUSBY, Md. — A Lexington Park woman is facing multiple charges, including disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, after allegedly refusing to leave an American Legion post and becoming confrontational with staff and law enforcement. Tanya Yvette Lockwood, 51, was arrested following an incident in which she allegedly defied requests to vacate the premises and resisted officers’ attempts to detain her, according to charging documents.
The incident occurred on Sept. 4, 2025, around 9:46 p.m. when Deputy P. Foote responded to 11820 HG Trueman Road in Lusby for a report of a disorderly subject. Charging documents filed in Calvert County District Court state the complainant, who was closing the bar for the night, reported that a female member was causing issues inside the American Legion and refused to leave.
According to police reports, Deputy Foote found Lockwood seated at a table near the bar, speaking with another Legion member. The complainant stated she was unsure whether Lockwood had consumed alcohol or was under the influence of any substances, and noted that Lockwood had only consumed lemon water while at the establishment.
When officers asked Lockwood to leave for the night, she allegedly became argumentative and refused to go without her vehicle. Charging documents state that officers offered to arrange transportation, including contacting someone to pick her up or calling an Uber, but Lockwood insisted on leaving with her black 2017 Buick Enclave.
Officers advised Lockwood that she would not be allowed to drive and that her vehicle would be secure in the parking lot overnight. Initially, Lockwood appeared to accept this and provided officers with an address in Lusby. However, she continued arguing with both Legion staff and law enforcement, according to the report.
Additional officers were called to the scene to assist. Lockwood allegedly continued to decline all transportation offers and stated she could remain on the property in her vehicle as long as she did not drive. Officers reportedly explained that her options were to accept a ride or face arrest for refusing to comply with a lawful order.
After repeated efforts to persuade her to leave voluntarily, Lockwood walked out of the building but reportedly proceeded directly to her vehicle, which was parked at an angle across two spaces. Court records state that she opened the rear passenger door, sat inside, and continued to argue with officers.
While seated in the vehicle, Lockwood allegedly told officers they were not permitted on the property and attempted to contact the Legion’s manager to gain permission to stay. Officers reported that when they attempted to arrest her for disorderly conduct and failure to obey a lawful order, she resisted by pulling away and going limp during the handcuffing process.
Lockwood was eventually secured and transported to Calvert County Detention Center. During a search of her vehicle for identification, officers found a black plastic bag on the front passenger seat containing a partially consumed 25-ounce can of beer and an empty wine bottle. Her driver’s license was later located among her personal effects.
Lockwood faces three misdemeanor charges: disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and failure to obey a reasonable and lawful order. Disorderly conduct carries a maximum penalty of 60 days in jail and a $1,000 fine. Resisting arrest carries up to three years in prison and a $5,000 fine. Failure to obey a lawful order carries up to 60 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.
Court records show Lockwood was released on her own recognizance on Sept. 5, 2025, after initially waiving her right to an attorney. The Calvert County Public Defender’s Office has since entered an appearance on her behalf and filed motions requesting a speedy trial and demanding discovery of evidence.
A trial is scheduled for Oct. 16, 2025, at 1 p.m. in Calvert County District Court. The State’s Attorney’s Office for Calvert County is prosecuting the case.
