Warm but sunny weather greeted the three teams that traveled to Morganza to scrimmage at Chopticon High School Saturday, August 21. In each team’s first full pads scrimmage La Plata, Thomas Stone, Parkdale (PG County-Riverdale) and Chopticon ran a controlled scrimmage with each team receiving 20 offensive plays against an opposing defense before switching to defense.
After getting the early jitters out of their systems, each team worked hard to learn the proper plays on both sides of the ball. Kicking, punting and special teams were not used in this scrimmage.
Both Varsity and JV players split the lower practice field as the coaches got a good look at the talent on their respective teams. Each of the teams will have individual full pre season games before starting their regular seasons the weekend of September 3.
Thomas Stone opens their regular season at Great Mills, La Plata is at home against Huntingtown, and Chopticon starts on the road at Westlake on September 3 and Parkdale opens September 4 at High Point High School.
