Lt. Gov. Brown’s Inaugural Equal Employment Opportunity Address and Visit

Lt. Governor Brown acknowledges Equal Employment Opportunity professionals.

Lt. Governor Anthony G. Brown addressed a full audience at St. Mary’s College of Maryland (SMCM) July 9 for the inaugural Equal Employment Opportunity Retreat of state Equal Employment Opportunity professionals.

Lt. Governor Brown said, “How do you, how do we, make a difference? How do we bring about change? I believe the answer is simple: Through practical solutions; specific programs, initiatives, campaigns; and quantifiable steps (either big or small). Dr. Marian Wright Edelman once said, ‘We must not, in trying to think about how we can make a big difference, ignore the small daily differences we can make which, over time, add up to big differences that we often cannot foresee.’”

After an open discussion with the audience, Lt. Governor Brown toured the campus, viewing the new “green” Goodpaster Hall, which received a Silver rating from the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System, and St. John’s Archaeological Site, among others.
