Lt. Governor Anthony G. Brown announced that Chief of Staff Earl Adams will be leaving the Office of the Lieutenant Governor to return to private law practice in the Baltimore office of DLA Piper US. Adams has served as Chief of Staff to Lt. Governor Brown for nearly five years, supporting the Lt. Governor’s efforts to expand and improve health care, support economic development, help victims of domestic violence, increase access to higher education, and provide veterans with better services and resources.

“Earl Adams has been an invaluable member of our team, working tirelessly to support our efforts to move Maryland forward,” said Lt. Governor Brown. “While it is always difficult to lose a dedicated public servant like Earl, I understand that I have been lucky to have him at my side for so many years, and I wish him and his family the very best.”

“I’d like to thank Earl for his commitment to Lt. Governor Brown and our entire Administration, serving the people of our State and helping us make significant progress for nearly five years,” said Governor O’Malley. “Though we will miss Earl’s many contributions to our Administration, we wish him well in all of his future endeavors.”

“I would like to thank Lt. Governor Brown and Governor O’Malley for giving me the opportunity to serve the people of Maryland,” said Earl Adams. “It has been an absolute honor to serve as Chief of Staff to Lt. Governor Brown, whose commitment to public service has helped strengthen communities throughout our State. He has truly transformed the office of Lieutenant Governor, accomplishing more progress for more Marylanders than any of his predecessors, and I will always value the time I have spent working with Anthony Brown.”

Adams will remain in his position until January 6th, at which point Maia Estes, Deputy Chief of Staff to Lt. Governor Brown, will be elevated to interim Chief of Staff.
