An early Wednesday afternoon fire on Chart Court in Lusby destroyed a 2006 Ford Mustang, the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal reported. According to Dfm. Caryn McMahon, the blaze occurred around 1:26 p.m. and was discovered by local residents. An adjacent house sustained minor damage due to the heat generated by the fire.
“Occupants at the residence noticed smoke coming from the passenger compartment of the vehicle,” McMahon stated. “Witnesses attempted to extinguish the fire but the vehicle was destroyed.”
Eight St. Leonard Volunteer Fire Department firefighters were dispatched to the one- alarm blaze and had it under control in five minutes. There were no injuries reported. McMahon reported the estimated loss at $15,000. The cause of the fire remains under investigation and anyone with information on the incident should contact the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Southern Regional Office at 443-550-6831.
