
CALIFORNIA, Md. — Lux Sports Bar and Grill officially opened its doors Jan. 9 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, marking the launch of a new dining and entertainment destination in St. Mary’s County.
County officials, community members and business leaders gathered to celebrate the grand opening of the new establishment, which offers elevated dining, live sports and nightlife in a modern reimagining of the traditional sports bar experience.


During the ceremony, St. Mary’s County Commissioner Scott Ostrow presented a proclamation recognizing the business as “a new premier destination for elevated dining, live sports, and vibrant nightlife, offering a bold and modern reimagining of the traditional sports bar experience.”
The proclamation also highlighted the venue’s design and atmosphere, noting it was created “to blend style and comfort,” while providing “an inviting, high-energy atmosphere where guests are welcomed into a space that feels both upscale and approachable.”


In addition to the county recognition, a proclamation from Sen. Jack Bailey was read by the owners during the ceremony. The proclamation acknowledged the grand opening and the owners’ “hardworking dedication, and bringing this new business to St. Mary’s County while supporting our local economy and promoting continued growth is greatly appreciated.”
Lux Sports Bar and Grill features a carefully crafted menu and a premium game-day environment, including state-of-the-art screens and immersive sound, designed to create a destination for both sports enthusiasts and casual guests alike.
County officials also recognized the positive impact the new business is expected to have on the community. In the proclamation, the commissioners cited Lux Sports Bar and Grill’s contribution to the county’s economic vitality, expanded consumer choice and the creation of new career opportunities for local residents.
The proclamation concluded with congratulations to Lux Sports Bar and Grill on its grand opening and well wishes for continued success, growth and a lasting commitment to serving St. Mary’s County. The recognition was formally dated Jan. 9, 2026.
