CALIFORNIA, Md. — After earning county approval three years ago, Magic Tunnel Car Wash officially opened its new Southern Maryland location on Three Notch Road on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2025, and welcomed customers with free washes throughout the day.
Located at 23038 Three Notch Road, the 160-foot-long automated car wash operates with high-end cleaning equipment and free self-serve vacuums, part of the company’s model designed for speed, efficiency, and convenience.
The St. Mary’s County Planning Commission first approved the site plan for the California location in August 2022, designating it as a medium-intensity commercial use within the Lexington Park development district. The area was identified for concentrated growth, including both residential and business expansion.

John Gott of 235 Associates LLC, the owner of the project, said the site was designed larger than the company’s Prince Frederick location to meet growing demand along Route 235, one of the county’s busiest corridors.
The new facility joins a cluster of similar businesses along the highway but aims to stand out with modern technology and customer-focused amenities.
Magic Tunnel staff said they are eager to serve the community and build long-term relationships with local drivers as operations ramp up at the new site.

After 235 years the car wash is finally open.
This county and it’s government are so…weird (I kept it polite)
We’ll go decades with nothing or maybe 1 of a thing but then they approve something and now we have 4 of them. Funny how this article doesn’t mention the identical car wash business in Leonardtown or the 7-11 on great mills road also having a near full service car wash as well. Not to mention Cheseldines being a full service car wash.
Don’t complain otherwise they might approve another gas station…
While living in St Mary’s County for seven years, one thing I never heard was, “you know what? We could use another car wash.”
I’m surprised Waste Moore don’t open up an emissions station. Oh don’t worry it’s coming soon
I guess I will be sticking with cheseldine. For about the same price, they vacuum your car and wipe out the inside.
