
LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — A 21-year-old man was flown to a regional trauma center Saturday night after suffering an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound in Lexington Park.
Emergency crews responded at approximately 9:28 p.m. on Feb. 14, 2026, to the 46000 block of Franklin Road. Law enforcement secured the scene before medics began treatment.
The man sustained a gunshot wound to the upper leg. Due to the seriousness of the injury, Maryland State Police Trooper 7 was requested. Firefighters established a landing zone at Great Mills High School, where the patient was transferred to the helicopter and airlifted to a MedStar trauma center.
No other injuries were reported. The incident remains under investigation.
