Michael Emmanuel Beal

Leonardtown, MD— While transporting a prisoner, Deputy D. Smith observed a vehicle driving erratically failing to drive within a single lane, running through a red light, and additional clues that led officers to suspect the driver was under the influence.

The driver of the vehicle, Michael Emmanuel Beal, age 26, of Clinton, was stopped and after initially refusing, he was removed from the vehicle. Deputies located open containers of alcohol in the car.

A standardized field sobriety test was performed which Beal completed unsatisfactorily. During the arrest, he kept falling asleep and had to be awoken by officers several times. He was transported to the St. Maryโ€™s County Detention Center, and search incident revealed suspected marijuana in his pocket.

He was charged with Possession of Contraband in a Place of Confinement and issued multiple traffic citations, including Driving under the Influence.
