Charles County Sheriffโs officers assigned to the Traffic Operations Unit have charged Dominque Akeem Hayes, 23, of Brandywine, in connection with a hit and run crash.ย
On Nov. 4 at 10:45 p.m., a 52-year-old male was found unconscious on the side of Poplar Hill Road in Waldorf; it was apparent he had been struck by a car. The victim was transported to a hospital where he was admitted with life-threatening injuries.
Officers recovered evidence on the scene and identified the striking vehicle as an Infiniti QX4. A lookout for the vehicle was published and soon after, officers received information regarding the case. Officers recovered the striking vehicle and identified Hayes as the driver.
Further investigation revealed Hayes and the victim had been involved in a dispute at a relativeโs house in Brandywine. The victim left the house and walked away on foot. Hayes followed in his truck and struck the victim near the intersection of Poplar Hill Road and Slater Drive. Hayes was arrested on Nov. 6 and charged with first-degree assault and second-degree assault.
