On August 24, 2010 Deputy First Class George responded to the Green Door Bar in Park Hall, to investigate a counterfeit complaint.
Investigation revealed Anthony Demtrious Lee, 30 of Patuxent River, entered the business establishment around 7:30 p.m. Lee made numerous purchases of beverages and paid for each individual purchase with a twenty dollar bill. Lee also requested the business make change or exchange his twenty dollar bills for lower denomination bills. The bartender became suspicious of the exchanges and the several twenty dollar bills which Lee had passed. The bartender further suspected the money may be counterfeit so he contacted the Sheriff’s Office.
St. Mary’s County Dfc. George examined the money and determined the bills were counterfeit. Lee was still in the business when Dfc. George arrived and conducted his investigation.
Lee was arrested for theft and possessing counterfeit currency. Further investigation revealed Lee had actually manufactured the counterfeit currency so he was also charged with manufacturing counterfeit currency.
