A 22 year old white female walked into the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack on September 29th at approximately 6:00 p.m. to report a rape.

Investigation revealed that the victim was at a residence in the Great Mills area in the earlier morning hours of September 29.  The suspect, James Erwin Henderson, 28 of Lexington Park approached the victim in a bedroom at the residence and sexual assaulted her.

Investigators from Criminal Enforcement Division-Central South responded to the Leonardtown Barrack and assumed the investigation. 

After meeting with the victim, investigators from Criminal Enforcement Division located the suspect Henderson at a residence in Lexington Park, MD.

After consulting with States Attorney Richard Fritz, suspect Henderson was charged with the following:

Sex Offense-2nd Degree, Sex Offense 4th Degree, Assault-2nd Degree and Unnatural and Perverted Sexual Act.

Henderson was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center pending a hearing with the District Court Commissioner.

The investigation was conducted in collaboration with the Calvert County States Attorney’s Office.
