At 2:19 a.m. on May 7 Dfc. Marty McCarroll responded to Bayside Road and 27th Street in Chesapeake Beach for the report of an injured person.
Dfc. McCarroll found a man bleeding heavily from the face and head.
The man advised that he was walking along Bayside Road when five unknown men approached him asking for money. He said the men started to punch and kick him after he said he had none.
They attempted to go through the victim’s pockets but did not obtain any property and then fled the scene in an unknown direction.
Medical personnel from VFD Co. #1 responded and treated the man’s injuries but he refused to be transported to a trauma center. He was transported by ambulance to Calvert Memorial Hospital for further medical treatment.
