At 12:46 a.m. on Sunday morning, July 23, Patrol Officers responded to a residence located in Lexington Park for a reported burglary.
Upon contact with the victim, (whose name is not being disclosed, but who was described by Sgt. Joseph of the St. Mary’s Sheriff’s Office as an African American man), officers noticed that he was suffering from a single gunshot wound to the upper torso. Medical treatment was provided and the man was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment. Detectives from the Bureau of Criminal Investigations responded and assumed the investigation.
Investigation revealed that while the victim was at the residence, which Sgt. Joseph told The Bay Net is located on Stony Brook Court, several unknown men forced entry into the home. The men ransacked the residence and then engaged into a physical fight with the victim. The victim was then shot by one of the intruders, and the group of men then departed the residence.

The victim remains at the hospital in critical but stable condition. Sgt. Joseph told The Bay Net there are currently no suspects identified in the case.
