At 9:41 p.m. Dec. 4, officers responded to Flower Drive, LexingtonPark, for an assault report.
The St. Mary’s County Bureau of Criminal Investigations was contacted and assumed the investigation. Police learned that four male juvenile suspects (two 17 year olds, a 16 year old and one 15 year old) from Lexington Park, approached the victim, Andrew Newingham 18, of Lexington Park, and asked him for a cigarette.
The victim refused and the suspects proceeded to physically assault him.
While the victim was being assaulted by all four suspects, he stabbed one of the 17 year olds in the back with a small pocket knife.
The injured suspect was transported by air to PG Shock Trauma by Trooper 7.
The other three suspects were charged by BCI with 2nd degree assault. Charges are pending against the third juvenile once he his released from PG Shock Trauma.
