SILVER SPRING, Md. — A Silver Spring dentist has been charged with multiple sex offenses after a patient reported being assaulted during dental procedures, according to Montgomery County police.
Dr. Ermias Semaie, 35, was arrested on March 19, 2026, following an investigation by the Montgomery County Department of Police Special Victims Investigations Division.
Authorities said the investigation began on March 2 when an adult female patient reported that Semaie sexually assaulted her on two separate occasions while she was receiving treatment at his office. Police said the alleged incidents occurred when no dental hygienist was present in the room.
Detectives were able to corroborate the victim’s allegations during the course of the investigation, officials said.
Semaie is charged with multiple counts of fourth-degree sex offense and second-degree assault related to alleged incidents in February 2026.
Court records show an arrest warrant for Semaie was issued on March 13, 2026, by Judge Daniel Eisenhour.
During the investigation, detectives also discovered that a previous complaint had been filed against Semaie in 2018 with the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners involving similar allegations. At that time, his license was temporarily suspended and he was placed on probation, though no criminal charges were filed.
Based on both the prior report and the current case, investigators believe there may be additional victims.
Court records show Semaie was released after posting a $5,000 cash bond following a bail review hearing before Judge Sherri Debra Koch. A trial is set for May 8, 2026, in Montgomery District Court in Rockville.
