ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Maryland’s 10 electors fulfilled their constitutional duty today by voting for Kamala D. Harris for President and Tim Walz for Vice President of the United States. In accordance with Federal and State law, the electors took an oath before the Clerk of the Supreme Court and cast their votes for the candidates for President and Vice President who received the plurality of the votes cast in Maryland in the 2024 Presidential General Election.
Maryland has 10 electoral votes – one for each of Maryland’s eight congressional seats and two for its U.S. Senate seats. This is the 60th meeting of the Electoral College. Maryland is one of 6 states that has cast electoral votes in every Presidential contest.
In Maryland, the political parties each choose 10 individuals who will pledge their electoral votes to the parties’ candidates for President and Vice President. The individuals pledged to the candidates for President and Vice President who receive the plurality of the votes cast in the State serve as Maryland’s electors. A video of the meeting can be found here: https://vimeo.com/event/4780492.
“The Electoral College meeting signifies the end of the 2024 Presidential Election in Maryland,” said State Administrator Jared DeMarinis. “Devised as a compromise by our founding fathers to ensure an independent Presidency, Maryland was pivotal in its adoption as the method to elect our President. It’s an honor to be a part of America’s history.”
The electoral votes will be sealed and sent to the U.S. Senate, where Congress will convene on January 6, 2025 to officially count and certify the electoral votes from all 50 states and the District of Columbia. A total of 270 votes out of the 538 nationwide are required to elect the President and Vice President. Sounds like Socialism too me
that was courteous of you to tape it so we didn’t miss anything.
And one wonders why people leave the state in droves.
Congress approving the election results is the last step in the process. wAIT a minute, are those January 6thers out of jail yet? And what did their local Sheriff do, if anything, to try to intervene? Politically motivated charges! Isn’t Congress not having their e-mail address’s on their website more of a crime than the January 6thers asking Congress for intervention in the election? All the January 6thers did was go to Congress + request they take another look at election results still in dispute.
100th day in office
