Hanover, MD – With recent terrorist attacks in Brussels, Marylanders will see more police and canine explosive detection patrols throughout the Stateโ€™s transportation network.ย  Working closely with all of our state, local and federal partners and the Maryland Department of Transportationโ€™s Office of Homeland Security, Transportation Secretary Pete K. Rahn today set into action its pre-established plans for deployment for its two law enforcement agencies, the MTA Police and the Maryland Transportation Authority Police. In addition to the increased enforcement you do see, there are many measures in place that travelers wonโ€™t see.

“In the wake of the horrific attacks today in Belgium, we are taking every precaution to keep Maryland citizens safe and secure,โ€ said Governor Larry Hogan.ย  โ€œIn particular, there will be a more visible law enforcement presence at the airport, train stations and other mass transit locations around the state. I encourage all Marylanders, especially those traveling, to remain vigilant and aware of their surroundings at all times. If you see something unusual or unsettling, please report it immediately.”

โ€œWe all play a role in our security,โ€ said Secretary Rahn.ย  โ€œPlease be aware of your surroundings and remember: โ€˜If you see something, say something.โ€™ โ€
