MECHANICSVILLE, Md. — A 47-year-old man was injured Monday evening, June 1, 2026, after a lawnmower went down a steep hill in Mechanicsville and struck a metal object.

The incident was reported around 7:55 p.m. in the 39500 block of Jarrell Drive. Emergency crews were told the lawnmower had gone about 15 feet down a steep hillside at an estimated 45-degree angle.

Initial dispatch information indicated the man had an obvious broken leg and remained down the hill after the crash.

Fire and rescue crews, including Squad 2, Utility 2 and UTV 2, responded to the scene. UTV 2 reached the patient, and crews removed him from the hillside before transferring him to EMS care.

The man was transported by ground to UM Capital Region Medical Center for treatment.
