BALTIMORE – The Maryland Lottery’s biggest win of the past week came courtesy of the computer-generated horse racing simulation game Racetrax and a particularly lucky play that led to a prize of more than $106,000.
In Racetrax, players select from among a field of horses numbered 1 to 12, with new races starting every few minutes and displayed on video monitors at Lottery retailers. There are multiple ways to bet, just as there are in live horse racing.
A Racetrax player who visited a 7-Eleven store in Rockville on May 25 played a 4-7-3-9 Superfecta, betting on the top four horses to finish in that exact order, and decided to add the Bonus option to the ticket. A Bonus multiplier is randomly drawn before each race, and any winning ticket that includes the Bonus option can have its prize multiplied.
The base prize for winning a 4-7-3-9 Superfecta is $10,622, and the Bonus multiplier for that race was 10, which expanded the lucky winner’s prize to $106,220. As of June 1, the winner hasn’t yet come forward to claim. The 7-Eleven store at 11530 Rockville Pike is also celebrating, as the retailer will receive a bonus of $1,062.20 for selling the ticket, equal to 1% of the prize.
Meanwhile, scratch-off players in Glen Burnie and Prince Frederick each won $57,777 last week on the Triple Red 7s Tripler scratch-off game. Across the state and throughout the week of May 25-31, Maryland Lottery players won a total of $29.7 million in prizes, including 28 tickets worth $10,000 or more.
Winners are encouraged to sign the backs of tickets and keep winning tickets in a safe location. Tickets for draw games expire 182 days after the drawing date. FAST PLAY tickets expire 182 days after purchase. The last dates to claim for scratch-off tickets are posted on the scratch-offs page at mdlottery.com.
Winners of prizes larger than $25,000 must redeem tickets at the Maryland Lottery Customer Resource Center in Baltimore, which is open by appointment only. Prizes up to $25,000 can be claimed at the cashier window of any of the six casinos in Maryland. Prizes up to $5,000 can be claimed at any of more than 400 Expanded Cashing Authority Program (XCAP) locations. All Maryland Lottery retailers are authorized to redeem tickets worth up to and including $600. More information is available on the How to Claim page of the Lottery website.
