MECHANICSVILLE, Md. — A Mechanicsville man is facing drug possession and paraphernalia charges after suspected buprenorphine strips and a glass smoking device were recovered during a warrant arrest Tuesday evening.

Stoney Louis Buckler, 40, of Mechanicsville, was arrested May 19, 2026, after law enforcement responded around 7 p.m. to the Old Locks Mill Road area in Mechanicsville to assist with locating a person wanted on a confirmed arrest warrant.

The charging documents state Buckler was identified through prior law enforcement interactions. As law enforcement approached, Buckler reportedly discarded two items from his pockets.

One of the discarded items was identified as a glass smoking device with suspected crack cocaine residue.

During a search incident to arrest, police recovered one opened buprenorphine strip package containing a strip, along with one closed buprenorphine strip package, from Buckler’s front left shorts pocket.

Buckler is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance that is not cannabis and one count of possession of CDS paraphernalia.

Court records show Buckler was issued a $1,000 unsecured personal bond on May 19, 2026, which was posted the same day.

A trial is scheduled for July 7, 2026, at St. Mary’s District Court.

If convicted, each non-cannabis CDS possession count carries up to one year in jail and/or a $5,000 fine for a first conviction under Maryland law. The paraphernalia charge carries a fine of up to $500 for a first violation.
