MECHANICSVILLE, Md. — Golfers are invited to hit the links this summer while supporting two organizations working to create opportunities for children and individuals with diverse learning needs.

The Optimist Club of Mechanicsville will hold its sixth annual golf tournament on Friday, Aug. 7, at Wicomico Shores Golf Course, located at 38794 Aviation Yacht Club Road in Mechanicsville.

Proceeds from the tournament will be divided between the Mechanicsville Optimist Club and PALS — Personalized Academy of Learning Inc.

Tournament Details

Registration will begin at 7 a.m., followed by a 9 a.m. tee time. The cost is $500 per foursome and includes green fees, a golf cart, range balls, food on the course, beverages, door prizes and other activities.

The tournament will feature 18 holes of golf, day-drinking and silent auctions, lunch and an after-party celebration.

Mulligans will also be available for $5 each, with a maximum of $20 per player or two mulligans per player.

Supporting Inclusive Learning Opportunities

PALS is a recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing therapeutic, inclusive and individualized support for people with diverse learning needs and disabilities.

The organization’s mission is to create opportunities for individuals of all ages to grow, connect and thrive in a supportive environment.

The remaining proceeds will support the Mechanicsville Optimist Club and its continued efforts to serve local children and strengthen the community.

Sponsorship Opportunities Available

Businesses, organizations and community members may also support the tournament through several sponsorship opportunities:

  • Drink cart sponsor: $100
  • Hole sponsor: $100
  • Lunch sponsor: $500

In-kind donations are also welcome and appreciated. The sponsorship deadline is July 31.

Checks should be made payable to the Optimist Club of Mechanicsville and mailed to P.O. Box 301, Mechanicsville, MD 20659.
