TheBAYNET.com and Baynet Radio welcomed candidate for U.S. Congress, Charles Lollar to our offices for a glimpse into his candidacy and efforts to unseat his main opponent, Steny Hoyer. After a few minutes it was evident that Lollar is a passionate and dedicated American ready to serve the country he loves and has defended as a U.S Marine.

The candidate believes that the freedom Americans enjoy is and has been taken for granted, which is something he wants to correct. โ€œWhen I was fighting overseas to preserve our freedoms,โ€ said Lollar, โ€œI realized just how much we take our freedom for granted here.โ€

When asked why he decided to run, the Georgia transplant stated, โ€œI took an oath to protect and defend the country and our constitution. I decided that that oath means that I should continue to do so here, not just abroad. It is time to get our freedoms back.โ€

The candidate believes that because individual freedoms have been gradually been taken away by past and present government the only way to get the country back on its feet financially is to allow Americans to do what they do best under a blanket of freedom that has made the U.S. the most productive country in the world.

โ€œOur economy is driven by the hopes, dreams and sweat of the American people. It is only because of the freedom we are entitled to under the constitution, thatย  individual efforts can invent new products, open new markets and create more jobs,โ€ said Lollar. โ€œWhen left free to operate [Americans] are the real engines that create new growth, jobs and prosperity.โ€

Lollar discussed his feelings about the current government and Congress. โ€œThey forget that people create jobs and government creates bureaucracies.โ€ He feels that inventive Americans are the way toward rebuilding a robust economy with sustained job growth. To do that, Lollar feels that needless government spending needs to be stopped and that taxes should be reduced.

โ€œThe time has come when we must set aside the failed economic theories of the government bureaucrats and replace them with these common sense truths that have succeeded every time they have been tried,โ€ said Lollar.

โ€œElected officials are the servants of the people. They take an oath to obey the Constitution and are expected to act in our interest, not use the office to further their own private agendas.ย  We must have transparency in the political process in order to know what Congress is doing and hold them accountable for their actions,โ€ said Lollar.

The candidate is proud of his service as a Marine where he served in such hot zones and humanitarian roles in Kosovo, Turkey and other areas around the world. Lollar was awarded several medals and decorations including: the Kosovo Campaign Medal, Navy Unit Commendation, Combat Action Ribbon, and Joint Meritorious Unit Award. Presently, he serves as a Major in the Marine Corps Reserves where he is an intelligence officer.
