The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) has begun to design improvements to MD 5 – Point Lookout Road from south of Camp Brown Road to the causeway inside Point Lookout State Park in St. Mary’s County.

The planned improvements include roadway resurfacing and widening with 11-foot-wide lanes and 8-foot-wide shoulders along most of the corridor. Inside the park, the roadway will be resurfaced and a parallel bike path constructed. Currently, due to the narrow roadway and minimal shoulders, traffic flow is sometimes restricted by recreational vehicles, pedestrians, bicycles, and disabled cars and trucks.

The public is invited to attend an Informational Meeting on Monday, October 27, 2014, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Ridge Volunteer Fire Department, 13820 Point Lookout Road, Ridge, MD 20680. Project displays will be available for viewing and project team members will be available to discuss the project. Citizens should note that there will be no formal presentation.
