
LA PLATA, Md. – Piccowaxen Middle School swept the middle school archery tournament held Nov. 14 at Milton M. Somers Middle School.
Each year, Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) holds an archery tournament in November where middle school students compete. Other tournaments for CCPS middle school students include a golf contest in October, a volleyball tournament in January, a basketball tournament in March and a track and field event in April.
Overall boy and girl winners were chosen at each grade level. This year’s top scorer in each
category are students at Piccowaxen.
Sixth grade top scorers
- Elora Powell, 154 points.
- Cohen Davis, 158 points.
Seventh grade top scorers
- Brooklyn Shuff, 114 points.
- Colby Fairman, 152 points.
Eighth grade top scorers
- Finley Poff, 143 points.
- Luke Barrett, 137 points.
Overall team placement
- Piccowaxen, first place, 1,533 points.
- Theodore G. Davis Middle School, second place, 1,139 points.
- Matthew Henson Middle School, third place, 1,042 points.
- Milton M. Somers Middle School, fourth place, 653 points.
- Mattawoman Middle School, fifth place, 339 points.
- Benjamin Stoddert Middle School, sixth place, 214 points.
General Smallwood Middle School did not participate in this year’s tournament.
