On Sept. 5 at 5:55 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the intersection of Carrico Mill Road and Oaks Road in Hughesville for the report of a motor vehicle crash involving a motorcycle.
Investigation revealed George McPherson Bowling, IV, 25, of Hughesville was driving a 2004 Yamaha motorcycle north on Oaks Road exceeding the speed limit and passed a vehicle in front of him in an area of double-yellow lines.
The motorcycle subsequently struck a 2006 Nissan Maxima whose driver was stopped on Carrico Mill Road attempting to turn onto southbound Oaks Road. Bowling, who was wearing a helmet, was ejected from the motorcycle and sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
He was flown by a Maryland State Police helicopter to Prince George’s General Hospital.
The driver of the Maxima, Raymond Burton Allen, Jr., 71, of Charlotte Hall, was not injured.
