Onย Saturday, July 6, in historic Downtown Leonardtown, come enjoy unique versions of classical music in contemporary jazz styles performed by the โ€œClazzical Jamโ€ jazz group. Guests will hear Don Stapleson on flute, his fellow St. Maryโ€™s alum Peter Fields on guitar, and Fred Lieder on the cello. The concert will be held outdoors on the Town Square, starting atย 7 p.m.ย It is free and open to the public. Please note this is a change of performance originally advertised as the Brass Ensemble.

– Bachbird (combining the Prelude from Bachโ€™s Cello Suite No 1 in G Major with Bye Bye Blackbird)

– Blueberry Madigan (Mozartโ€™s Elvira Madigan meets Blueberry Hill)

– Havana Nacht Musik (The Rondo from Mozarts Eine Kliene Nachtmusik as an Afro-Cuban piece)

– Nocturne in F Minor (One Chopinโ€™s beloved miniatures as a swing tune)

Musicians are also being sought for Blues Jam on the Square as part of First Friday on July 5. The live music Blues Jam on Historic Leonardtown Square, hosted by Bob Schaller.

There will be a stage and sound system, and an assemblage of a core band.ย Organizers are seeking interested players and singers to join in the jam.

They will be playing primarily electric blues rock/R& B/funk such as BB King, Wilson Pickett, Allman Bros, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, ZZ Top, and similar artists, however they are also open to more traditional blues and jazz.

The keyword is JAM so be prepared to get into a groove and improvise. Bring your instruments and/or pipes. The jam starts atย 6 p.m.ย and goes untilย 8:30 p.m.
