PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — A Prince Frederick woman is facing a felony drug charge and several misdemeanor counts following an narcotics investigation and traffic stop in Calvert County that authorities say led to the recovery of suspected cocaine.
Sheri Anne Manning, 61, was arrested on Dec. 31, 2025, after detectives with the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit conducted surveillance related to reported drug activity, according to court records.
Investigators said the case began after law enforcement received information that Manning would be traveling to Washington, D.C., to obtain illegal drugs. Detectives conducted undercover surveillance and observed Manning leaving her residence in Prince Frederick and traveling toward the District of Columbia in a vehicle registered to another individual.
According to charging documents, the vehicle was later observed returning to Calvert County during the early morning hours and was stopped near Hickory Ridge Road after deputies recorded the vehicle traveling above the posted speed limit. Manning was seated in the front passenger seat at the time of the stop.
As Manning exited the vehicle, detectives reported observing a bag containing a white, rock-like substance believed to be cocaine, along with a glass smoking device. A subsequent search allegedly uncovered additional suspected cocaine concealed on her person. Authorities said investigators recovered approximately 6.2 grams of suspected cocaine.
Detectives stated the quantity recovered was inconsistent with personal use and indicative of intent to distribute. Manning was taken into custody and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center.
While being processed at the detention center, officers said additional suspected cocaine was discovered in Manning’s possession, resulting in an additional charge for possession of a controlled dangerous substance while confined or detained.
Manning is charged with possession with intent to distribute a narcotic, a felony, as well as misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance not cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance while confined or detained.
Court records show Manning was initially held without bond following her arrest. At a bail review hearing on Jan. 2, 2026, a judge ordered her release on her own recognizance. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 30, 2026, in Calvert District Court.
