The St. Mary’s County Bureau of Criminal Investigations is an investigative team comprised of Detectives from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office and the Maryland State Police, Leonardtown Barrack. The unit was established on July 1, 2003 and is based in Leonardtown, Maryland.
On May 26, 2011 the St. Mary’s County Bureau of Criminal Investigations Sex Offender Unit During conducted random sex offender compliance check investigations. The investigation revealed Steven Mark Cady III, 29 year old, white male, 6’2″, 280 lbs. had absconded from his residence in violation of the Maryland State sex offender requirements. A violation of probation warrant has been issue for Cady and additional charges are pending a St. Mary’s County District Court Commissioner review.
