At 3:15 p.m. Saturday, a trail of cars smashed together on Chancellor’s Run Road in a quadruple rear-ender that injured at least one person.
When volunteer firefighters and rescue squad personnel arrived all of the occupants were already out of the vehicles. Minutes later, medical personnel made the decision on the scene to dispatch a Maryland State Police helicopter for a 26-year-old male.
Firefighters were concerned a small gas leak from the pickup truck could be ignited when the vehicles were moved, and applied a thick layer of foam before attempting to separate the vehicles.
A puppy sprang from one of the vehicles when the door was opened. After a run, the pup was caught by a deputy and returned to its owner.
Both travel directions of Chancellor’s Run Road in California were closed for more than an hour.
