Forestville Md. – June 28, One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash this afternoon on US 301 in Prince Georgeโs County. The families of those involved in the crash have not been notified at this time.ย Identities of the deceased and injured are being withheld until notifications can be made. Troopers from the Forestville Barrack were dispatched at about 2:30 p.m. today for a reported crash in the area of southbound US 301 at Old Central Avenue, Bowie, MD.ย Troopers found a Honda Accord and a Ford F150 pickup were involved in the crash. The preliminary investigation by an accident reconstructionist from the State Police College Park Barrack indicates the driver of the Honda Accord failed to stop at the stop sign at Old Central Ave. and was struck on the driverโs side door by the Ford F150 pickup that was traveling south on Rt. 301. The driver of the Honda was trapped inside of the vehicle. After being extricated by rescue personnel, the driver of the Honda was transported to Prince Georgeโs Hospital and later pronounced deceased. ย The driver of the pickup truck was transported to Prince Georgeโs Hospital for treatment.ย That driver is expected to survive, according to medical personnel.ย
MDOT State Highway Administration personnel responded to the scene to assist with lane closures.ย Due to the rescue operation, investigation and cleanup, one lane of traffic at the scene was closed for an extended period of time.ย
The investigation is continuing.
