On May 5, Maryland State Troopers responded to the Park Hall area for a reported intoxicated driver. The driver, Paul Anthony Kovacs, 24 of California, was arrested for driving while intoxicated. A search incident to arrest revealed a quantity of suspected heroin.
A scan by Sheriff’s Office K-9 officer Slouber was conducted and the vehicle was in stored. St Mary’s BCI Narcotics Detectives responded and a search and seizure warrant was obtained.
The continued search revealed additional illegal substances and related paraphernalia as well as a bullet proof vest.
Kovacs and his passenger, Lisa Marie Long, 25 of Mechanicsville, were charged with possession of heroin. Additional charges and seizures may follow a State’s Attorney’s Office review.
