2017 Southern Maryland Volunteer Firemen's Association Parade
Huntingtown, MD – The final day of April was ideal for a parade and Huntingtown proved to be the perfect place to have it. Several units marched down Old Town Road Sunday, April 30 to celebrate the 70th annual Southern Maryland Volunteer Firemen’s Association’s convention. The Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad (Company 6) hosted the two-day event. The temperature was a balmy 84 degrees when the parade stepped off at 1 p.m.

Afterwards, the band Three Sixty entertained the lingering crowd with an amazing mix of music. A chaplain from the La Plata Volunteer Fire Department stirred emotions with several stanzas of “Maryland, My Maryland” prior to the start of the traditional games, including tug of war.
