PASADENA, Md. — A Pasadena man has been arrested and charged with murder more than a year after initially reporting his girlfriend’s death as a suspected overdose.
Officers and emergency personnel responded around 6:05 a.m. on April 4, 2025, to a home in the 1200 block of Lorene Court for a report of an unresponsive woman. The 911 call was made by Scott Kirby, who told dispatchers his girlfriend, 34-year-old Heather Elizabeth Beaver, appeared to be suffering from an overdose.
Responding officers observed injuries on Beaver’s body, prompting the involvement of the Anne Arundel County Police Homicide Unit. She was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.
An autopsy conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner later ruled Beaver’s death a homicide caused by multiple blunt force injuries. Toxicology results determined the death was not related to an overdose.
Investigators said evidence at the scene indicated a violent struggle and contradicted Kirby’s initial account. Following an extensive investigation, detectives determined Kirby assaulted Beaver, causing the fatal injuries.
An arrest warrant was issued on April 22, 2026, and Kirby was taken into custody the following day by the Anne Arundel County Police Fugitive Apprehension Team, working with the U.S. Marshals Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force.
Kirby, 33, of Pasadena, is charged with second-degree murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and making a false statement to an officer. He is being held without bond.
A hearing is set for May 13, 2026, in Anne Arundel County District Court.
Police continue to ask anyone with information to contact detectives.
