Edgewater, MD – On April 20, 2019 at approximately 8:43 p.m., officers responded to Solomons Island Road north of Colony Crossing for a pedestrian crash.

The initial investigation revealed that an Acura sedan was traveling northbound on Solomons Island Road north of Colony Crossing when the driver struck a pedestrian who was crossing the roadway. The pedestrian was walking from west to east and was in the northbound lane when struck. The pedestrian was wearing dark clothing and there were no street lights or ambient light in the area of the crash. The pedestrian was transported to an area trauma center with life threatening injuries. The driver of the Acura, a Friendship woman, was not injured.

The pedestrian was identified as Charles Leapley, 32 of Harwood.
