A small plane crashed in a field this morning near St. Mary’s Airport, with three people on board.
Fire and rescue personnel rushed to the scene at 7:55 a.m., reportedly near Lawrence Hayden Road and Airport View Drive.
The pilot, a man in his 30s left the scene to contact 911 and reported there were two other on board, with one person injured. The pilot was reportedly carrying his mother and son as passengers.
Firefighters had a little trouble locating the crash scene, and were assisted by eyewitnesses. The fire crews cleared the scene at approximately 8:45 a.m.
One woman was flown via Trooper 7 to a trauma center in Baltimore.
