UPDATE: Witnesses Sought: The La Plata Police Department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit is seeking witnesses of a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred on November 10, 2021, at approximately 6:13 p.m., on Crain Highway at Glen Albin Road.
The Charles County Sheriff’s Office and Maryland State Police are assisting the La Plata Police Department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit in the investigation.

LA PLATA, Md. — We are receiving reports of a serious motor vehicle crash that occurred this evening that has left one person dead.
At approximately 6:15 p.m. on November 10, first responders were called to the scene of Glen Albin Road and Crain Highway for a reported crash involving two vehicles. Crews were advised by a caller that there was possibly somebody possibly trapped and non-responsive in one of the vehicles. One vehicle involved had reportedly overturned and another had gone into a ditch.
Upon arrival, crews attempted to extricate the trapped patient and discovered no pulse. The patient is believed to have received traumatic head injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene soon after.
It is unclear at this time if any other patients were injured as a result of the crash.
The northbound lanes in the area of the crash are closed and the southbound side is down to a single lane.
The road is expected to remain shut down for an extended period of time while the crash remains under investigation by police.
