Cedric Francis Dyer has been wanted for failing to pay child support since December 2006.  Mr. Dyer was on the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Most Wanted list. Cedric Dyer was $4,227 in arrears.  Mr. Dyer was believed to be residing in Lexington Park, Maryland.  The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office received a Crime Solvers tip reporting Cedric Dyer was living at the Spring Valley Apartments in Lexington Park.

The information was verified and on May 13, 2008 at approximately 8:00 am Deputies (SDFC. James Molitor, SDRC Robert Merritt, Deputy Kevin Meyer and Deputy Richard McCoy) from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to Mr. Dyer’s residence in an attempt to locate and arrest Mr. Dyer on the open warrant.  It was also learned Cedric Dyer’s live-in girlfriend; Diane Dorsey was wanted to failure to appear on a theft charge.

Deputies knocked on Cedric Dyer’s residence door and at first no one would answer the door.  The deputies persisted and the door was eventually opened by a male and female who were not the Dyer or Dorsey subjects.  The Deputies identified and spoke with the subjects.  Both subjects denied anyone else was in the apartment, and did not want to let the Deputies inside.

SDFC Molitor explained to the two subject’s he would secure the outside of the residence and make application for a search and seizure warrant to enter the residence.  If the search and seizure warrant was granted he would enter the residence with the search and seizure warrant and look for the wanted subjects.  The two subjects decided to cooperate and allowed the deputies in the apartment.  Cedric Dyer was found hiding in a bedroom closet.  Diane Dorsey was also located in the residence arrested.
