Millersville, MD —  Police say a young driver’s mistake led to a crash that killed a motorcyclist just north of Benfield Road in Millersville on Tuesday morning.

Just after 7 a.m., a Honda motorcycle was traveling south on Veterans Highway approaching Benfield Road when it struck a Chevrolet sedan.

Police say preliminary investigation indicates the juvenile driver of the Chevrolet was attempting to make a left turn into the Exxon station located at 8556 Veterans Highway and failed to yield the right of way to the motorcycle.

The driver of the motorcycle, Brandon William Haney, was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for autopsy.

The juvenile driver of the sedan was not injured. Speed, drugs, and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in this crash. The States Attorney’s Office will review the case upon completion of the investigation by the Traffic Safety Section.
