Lusby, MD – At about 7:48 a.m. Feb. 20 Solomons and St. Leonard volunteer fire departments responded to Rousby Hall Road for the report of a house fire.

A family member smelled smoke coming from the area of the master bedroom. When she went to check she found the area around the bathroom door was on fire. 

Investigation revealed that an electrical cord running from a portable heater to the bathroom was the cause of the fire.

Damage is estimated at $10,000. It took 20 firefighters about 10 minutes to control the fire.

There were no reported injuries and the family is being assisted by other family members.
