HUNTINGTOWN, Md. — A Prince Frederick man is facing multiple criminal charges after authorities allege he left his juvenile daughter unattended in a vehicle following a crash involving a school bus and later engaged in erratic and dangerous behavior while under the influence of alcohol.
Brian Paul Davis, 41, of Prince Frederick, was arrested Feb. 4, 2026, and charged in Calvert County District Court with neglect of a minor, reckless endangerment, and confining an unattended child. He also faces numerous traffic-related charges, including driving under the influence of alcohol, driving while impaired, negligent driving, failure to remain at the scene of an accident, and directing and permitting unlawful vehicle operation.
Crash At Elementary School
According to the statement of probable cause, deputies were dispatched to Plum Point Elementary School in Huntingtown for a reported hit-and-run crash involving a school bus and a white Chevrolet pickup truck with black rims.
Investigators determined the truck, identified as a white 2021 Chevrolet Silverado bearing Maryland disabled veterans registration, left the scene. A second crash involving the same vehicle was later reported nearby at South View Drive and North Solomons Island Road in Huntingtown.
Deputies responded to Davis’ residence in Prince Frederick, where the Silverado was located parked in the driveway. The vehicle displayed damage consistent with both collisions. The passenger side showed yellow paint transfer matching that of a school bus, along with dents and scrapes along the driver’s side.
Child Located Inside Vehicle
While at the residence, a deputy reported hearing knocking and a juvenile voice coming from inside the parked truck. When the vehicle was opened, Davis’ juvenile daughter was found seated in the back seat.
Authorities allege Davis went inside the home without removing the child from the vehicle after picking her up from school and driving erratically. The circumstances led to charges of neglect of a minor and confining an unattended child.
Child Protective Services was contacted, and the matter was accepted as a child neglect case.
Alleged Impairment And Resistance
During contact with Davis, deputies documented slurred speech, droopy eyelids, and a strong odor of alcohol. The report also notes a heavy scent of body spray, commonly associated with attempts to mask the smell of alcohol during impaired driving investigations.
As deputies attempted to detain him, Davis allegedly resisted and became combative. Authorities reported that he attempted to throw himself over a railing and later struck his head against a patrol vehicle and the interior of the prisoner compartment while being transported.
Due to what deputies described as belligerent and uncooperative behavior, Davis was considered a refusal for a breath test.
Court Proceedings
Following a bail review hearing on Feb. 5, 2026, before Judge Michelle R. Saunders in Calvert District Court, Davis was ordered held without bond.
He is scheduled to appear for trial in Calvert District Court on April 17, 2026.
