PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — A Huntingtown man is facing multiple drug-related charges after a traffic stop in Prince Frederick led to the discovery of suspected cocaine residue and paraphernalia on April 21, 2026.

John Edward Dove, 49, of Huntingtown, was arrested following the incident, according to court documents.

A deputy observed a red Toyota Tacoma leaving the Lusby Motor Company parking lot and failing to properly signal before pulling into traffic near the intersection of Main Street and Armory Road. The vehicle was also observed crossing the white line along the roadway before a traffic stop was initiated on Solomons Island Road.

During the stop, Dove was identified as the driver. A K-9 unit conducted an open-air sniff of the vehicle and alerted to the presence of controlled dangerous substances, providing probable cause for a search.

A search of the vehicle and Dove’s person uncovered multiple items containing suspected cocaine residue, including an improvised glass smoking device found in the driver’s side door, a broken antenna located in his pocket, a digital scale recovered from the passenger seat, and tweezers found in the center console.

According to the report, Dove admitted to possessing the pipe, stating it had been given to him for disposal. He also told deputies the antenna was used to scrape the pipe and that the digital scale was used for weighing items.

Dove was taken into custody and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and multiple counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was later released on his own recognizance.

A hearing is set for June 5, 2026, in Calvert District Court.

Under Maryland law, possession of a controlled dangerous substance carries a maximum penalty of up to one year in jail, while possession of paraphernalia can result in additional fines and penalties.
