Michael J. Dorden

Oxon Hill, MD – A Prince George’s County man was arrested and charged this morning after a Maryland State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigation developed evidence supporting charges of distribution and possession of child pornography.

The suspect is identified as Michael J. Dorden, 52, of Oxon Hill, Md.  He is charged with distribution of child pornography and four counts of possession of child pornography.

The investigation began in late August 2016, when a tip was received by the Maryland State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.  The information was about the distribution of child pornography over the Internet from an individual who was unidentified at that time.  The ensuing investigation led to the identification of an address and investigators obtained a search warrant.

This morning, members of the Maryland State Police, Prince George’s County Police and Homeland Security Investigations served a search warrant at Dorden’s residence.  He was identified and further investigation determined he was in possession of child pornography.  A preliminary forensic examination of his laptop indicated there were more than 200 images of child pornography stored there.  He was arrested and transported for processing at the Forestville Barrack.

The Maryland State Police Computer Crimes Unit coordinates the Maryland Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.  This is a combined law enforcement effort involving police departments across Maryland that is funded by a federal grant from the U.S. Department of Justice.  Task force investigators focus on identifying those involved in child pornography via the Internet and other related crimes that victimize children.
