PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. โ Residents of Calvert County will soon have the chance to make their voices heard on more than 20 text amendments to the countyโs zoning ordinances.
The public hearing will take place on Tuesday, July 28, at 10:30 a.m. in the Chesapeake Hearing Room, located in the Calvert County Administration Building at 150 Main St., Prince Frederick. The meeting is open to the public and will be livestreamed on YouTube and through Meetings on Demand.
To listen or provide public comment by phone, residents can call 1-929-229-2458; meeting ID: 202-970-551; passcode: #.
People can also submit written comments in advance of the public hearing no later than 4:30 p.m. Monday, July 27. Comments can be emailed to PZ@calvertcountymd.gov or mailed to the Department of Planning & Zoning in Prince Frederick.
The complete list of text amendments is available online, and residents are encouraged to read them and submit comments or provide live testimony. The Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) will review comments and hear testimony before moving forward on any of the text amendments, whether itโs through additional drafts or adopting them through a vote.
None of the text amendments on the list for review are clearly related to possible data center development and have been discussed at previous BOCC and Planning Commission meetings. At the July 7 BOCC meeting, commissioners indicated that they were not moving forward with those specific text amendments because they didnโt want to โcreate more work for staffโ amidst a changing board that was likely less data-center-friendly.
