Lusby, MD – Monday, May 25 proved to be a beautiful morning and several fleet-footed individuals laced up their running shoes with the aim of aiding animals. The Second annual Orphaned Wildlife Rescue Center Inc.’s (OWRC) 5 Kilometer (K) Fun Run and Walk was held Memorial Day in the Lusby subdivision of Chesapeake Ranch Estates.

The 5K trek started at 8 a.m. at Chesapeake Ranch Airport on Double Tree Lane.

Once the race started, many of the human participants began running like wild animals.

Crossing the finish line first was Dylan Cillo, 17, who completed the course in 19 minutes and 10 seconds. The second-place finisher was Chris Rogers, 20, who logged a time of 21 minutes and 20 seconds. Close behind was Tommy Parks, 16, who finished third with a time of 21 minutes and 33 seconds.

The top female finisher was Lucille Winston, 47, whose time was 30 minutes and 10 seconds. The second-place female racer was Sarah Carr, who logged a time of 31 minutes and 21 seconds.

The OWRC Inc. is a 501(C) (3) publically-supported nonprofit charitable organization.
Participants were offered a tour of the OWRC following the race.
