The current sewer and water rate structure has apparently been rejected by the Town of Chesapeake Beachโs voters. In a referendum held Saturday, Dec. 7, 391 voted to scrap the current structure to 309 who favored keeping the structure approved by a majority of the council earlier this year. That structure has a sewer use rate of $11.28 per thousand gallons and a water use rate of $4.28 per thousand gallons.ย
Town officials have indicated the results are unofficial and 19 provisional ballot remain outstanding.
The rejection means the council will need to adopt a replacement rate structure by ordinance.
