While County officials made a well-intentioned attempt to improve communications after Isabel, the “reverse 911” doesn’t cut it.ย  Since our phone is frequently the first service to go, closely followed by electricity, guess what?ย  If your phone isn’t working, you will be unable to answer it to receive emergency information.ย  Duh!

Unless and until we get some type of mandated County radio service (almost everyone has a battery powered radio or would get one), emergency communications in St. Mary’s County will be sub-par for the average citizen and lives and property will continue to be at risk.
