Leonardtown, Maryland (March 27, 2017) โ€“ MedStar St. Maryโ€™s Hospital celebrated the opening of its new resident and visiting physicians housing complex with a ribbon cutting and open house on Monday, March 27, 2017.

โ€œThese housing units will help ease the temporary transition for medical residents and visiting healthcare professionals and their families as they put in long hours treating our patients,โ€ said Stephen Michaels, MD, chief operating officer and chief medical officer, MedStar St. Maryโ€™s Hospital. โ€œOne of the ways we can continue to grow our physicians for the community is by offering them comfortable living arrangements during their visit that helps them experience the beauty and charm of our County and the people who live here.โ€

Among the visiting medical professionals to MedStar St. Maryโ€™s Hospital are those working a four week clinical rotation as part of their residency through MedStar Washington Hospital Centerโ€™s program in Washington, D.C.

โ€œSeeing how other practices work and the overall experience at MedStar St. Maryโ€™s has been very educational for our residents, and housing is necessary so they are not commuting for hours each day,โ€ said Brian Cuneo, MD, primary care track program director for MedStar Washington Hospital Centerโ€™s Internal Medicine Residency Program.

Located steps away from MedStar St. Maryโ€™s Hospital, on the corner of Moakley Street and Doctorโ€™s Crossing Road in Leonardtown, the new single story housing complex contains two sets of one and two-bedroom units. Guests will enjoy the luxuries of home throughout all four fully-furnished units stylishly decorated by Lola Belle in Leonardtown.
